The former Junior Hollywood reporter decided it was her time to shine in front of the camera. She hasn’t disappointed, with a growing fan base of over 500k Instagram followers (in only one year) Lexi Jayde is truly living out her dreams.
Lexi tell me about the making of your new Christmas video?
Lexi Jayde feat. Emery T. Kelly – BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE
Lexi: I knew I had to bring this timeless piece to my generation when I realized everyone from my grandma, to my dad, to my little cousin all love this song! The shower scene in Elf when Zooey and Will are singing this song definitely inspired me to make this song my own. We changed a few lyrics, created a dream team, and were able to bring it to life in time for the holidays. Special thanks to our magical director Nayip Ramos.
How long did this video take to film; and what was it like working with Emery Kelly from Netflix’s Alexa and Katie?
Lexi: This project took one day of rehearsals, and then a day of filming. The entire process was super quick, and was completed in just 3 weeks! Working with Emery was just amazing. He is so talented and professional. He really made filming fun. We had a blast on set.
Well It’s Christmas Season so what is on your holiday playlist, and why is Christmas so special to you?
Lexi: My Christmas playlist obviously consists of my favorite “Baby Its Cold Outside”, but I also love Justin Bieber’s Christmas album, and classics like “Let It Snow” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”
Christmas is so special to me, because it’s the most magical time of the year! It fills me with joy and gratitude. I love all of the traditions; including decorating the tree, and just spending quality time with my family. A little snow would be nice!
“I feel very lucky to have met such special people along the way, and I know my mom has worked hard behind the scenes. She always tells me, with power comes great responsibility, and I try to use my platform to promote positivity.” – Lexi Jayde
You are a pretty big deal Lexi. With close to 500k Instagram followers how does it feel to know that many people support you and want to follow your life?
Lexi: First, thank you, but I don’t consider myself a big deal. The feeling is honestly unreal. It happened so fast, as I just started using Instagram a little over a year ago. I feel very lucky to have met such special people along the way, and I know my mom has worked hard behind the scenes. She always tells me, with power comes great responsibility, and I try to use my platform to promote positivity. However, I want to be known for my talents, not just a selfie. (Although, I do love taking them.)
What was is like being a Junior Hollywood Reporter, and how did that experience make you want to go after your own dreams?
“A funny story: I told my mom and dad when I was ten that I wanted to be on the other side of the rope, and that I wanted to walk the red carpet and be interviewed, not interviewing. They both” – Lexi Jayde
Lexi: It was a lot of fun, and very inspiring meeting stars and speaking with them about their careers and goals. Everyone I interviewed motivated me in a different way. Seeing people chasing their dreams and sharing with me how happy they were really influenced me to follow my own dreams and reach for the stars. A funny story: I told my mom and dad when I was ten that I wanted to be on the other side of the rope, and that I wanted to walk the red carpet and be interviewed, not interviewing. They both laughed, and it all began.
Can you explain your great work with LikeUrLife and your thoughts and experiences with bullying?
Lexi: LikeUrLife is such an awesome clothing brand! They have a shirt that reads, “I don’t need your likes to like my life.” It basically means that likes don’t define who you are, and how your life is going! I love the mission of the brand and I love being a part of it. They have produced two anti-bullying videos that I am very proud of!
“Breathe for Caley” is another organization you support that works to cure Cystic Fibrosis founded in the name of your late friend. Tell us about Caley and how proud she’d be of your true friendship?
Lexi: Caley had such a kind heart. Even though she was going through probably some of the hardest things that no child should ever have to feel. Every time I saw her she had a smile on her face. That girl inspired me to never give up, to stay strong, and to fight. I am proud to have known her, and I will never stop supporting charities that support finding a cure for this horrible disease that took that angel’s life away. I love you Caley, forever.
